Ultimate Digital:
Until recently, hearing instruments functioned as independent devices. Now, most ultimate models contain wireless communication capability, which enables the aids to share information. The result is 2 hearing aids functioning as one synchronized system which automatically adapts to the listening environment.
These aids also have speech in noise management technology, high speed feedback cancellation, and available remote control. These are the most advanced aids on the market at this time.
Advanced / Value Digital:
A category of hearing aids utilizing digital conversions for signal processing. This type of technology allows for more sophisticated processing or controlling of the sound inside the hearing aid to allow for clearer reception of sounds, especially in noisy environments. Advanced digital hearing aids generally adjust automatically and almost instantaneously to the type of environment the listener is in. Some models have feedback control, directional microphones, special noise reduction circuits and several memories.
Basic Digital:
A category of hearing aids utilizing digital conversions for signal processing. These hearing aids do not have the advanced features of the advanced digital hearing aids such as; noise management, feedback control, and multiple memories.
Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
The newest, smallest hearing aids, these are custom-made to fit deeply inside your ear canal so that they are practically invisible.
In-the-Canal (ITC)
These are also custom-made and small enough to fit almost entirely in your ear canal. They can be hardly noticeable.
In-the-Ear (ITE)
These are custom-made hearing aids made to fit within the external ear. They are the most widely recommended style.
Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
These fit snugly behind the ear and are attached to a custom earpiece molded to the shape of your external ear.
